Playoffs?!?!?!?

Yes! I said it PLAYOFFS!!! Noting is guaranteed with still about a month to go in the season. However the Mets are now in a the best position they have been in all season. Fangraphs has the Mets winning 90 games and a 85% chance to win the divison. Now the question is who would you start in game one barring the Mets make it there. Right now if the season ended the Mets would play the Dodgers in a best of 5. With the Mets having home field advantage.

Here is how I would set it up:

Game 1: Dodgers @ Mets LAD: C. Kershaw NYM: M. Harvey
Game 2: Dodgers @ Mets LAD: Z. Greinke NYM: J. deGrom
Game 3: Mets @ Dodgers NYM: B. Colon LAD: M. Latos
Game 4*: Mets @ Dodgers NYM: J. Niese LAD: B. Anderson
Game 5*: Dodgers @ Mets LAD: C. Kershaw NYM: N. Syndergaard

Yep that's right Harvey in game 1. My reason being if this is at home I would have Harvey he would embrace that spotlight in NYC. If the series started in LA deGrom in game 1 for me. That's just how I say it should be. Tell me your opinion in the comments. LGM

The Mets (70-56) played the Phillies (50-77) in the 3rd game of the 4 game set. The Mets got the win 9-4. They beat the Phillies for the 8th straight time.

Bartolo Colon pitched very well getting his 11th win (11-11, 4.68). He went 7 shutout innings walking 2 and striking out 8. Another great start from the age-less wonder.

Daniel Murphy playing 2nd base tonight had another solid game, going (1 for 4) but driving in 2 runs.

Michael Cuddyer remains hot as of late going (3 for 5) with 3 RBI and a 2 run HR. He also had a RBI double.

The rest of the lineup Granderson, Cespedes, Flores, Conforto, and Uribe also all had hits in the win.

The Pen pitched the final 2 innings. Eric O'Flaherty came and struggled giving up 3 runs. Carlos Torres didn't get an out allowing a hit and an un-earned run. Then Tyler Cippard  came in to get the final out in the 8th and pitch the 9th locking down save (19).

Phillies Pitching struggled once again as Eickhoff went 6 and gave up 4 runs 3 of them being earned. The bullpen also struggled once agian.

Jeurys Familia came in with 2 out in the eight and retired the next 4 to earn the save (34).

The Latest on Steven Matz

Bright young arm for the Mets Steven Matz is set for a rehab start with Binghamton (AA) on Wednesday. He should throw around 60 pitches. This year in 2 starts Matz is (2-0, 1.32). If you recall Matz had an unbelievable debut on the mound and on the plate. Hopefully Matz's rehab will go as planned and he will be back up in Queens soon. He should be a big help with Colon struggling, as well as Harvey and Syndergaard getting up there on there innings.

In Review: Mets @ Phillies 8/24/15

It was a record setting night for the boys in blue. The Mets took the field at Citizens Bank Park with a 5 game lead on Washington.

Jacob deGrom took the mound for New York and he did not look himself, he wasn't hitting his locations. Jake lasted just 2.2 innings. He allowed 7 runs 6 of them being earned. I would not be concerned with Jake everyone has a bad outing every once in a while and he should come back next start.

The offense was terrific once again scoring 16 runs. Wilmer Flores lead the charge driving five, but David Wright in his first game back set the tone for the evening with a solo home run in his first at bat since coming back from the disabled list. Going into the fourth inning the Mets were down 7-2. However the Mets came back for 14 unanswered to get there 68th win of the season to go 11 games over .500 for the first time since the conclusion of the 2008 season. New York powered out 8 home runs to set a club record. They also set the club record for extra base hits.

Wilmer Flores went 3-6, with 3 runs scored, 2 home runs, and driving in 5

Travis d'Arnaud also had a great night going 3-5, hitting a home run, a double, single, as well as driving in 5, and scoring a run

David Wright came back from the DL and made an immediate impact hitting a second inning home run, he also had a single

Sean Gilmartin came in to stop the bleeding from deGrom. He gave New York 3 1/3 shutout relief innings striking out 4 while allowing 3 hits and walking none. He was the winning pitcher going to (3-1, 2.34)

The Bullpen gave the Mets 6 1/3 shutout innings after getting a needed break on Sunday in Denver. Robles, O'Flaherty, C. Torres all gave the Mets no-hit innings after Gilmartin's outing.

The Phillies Bullpen gave up 11 earned runs after Morgan exited the game. Neris was the losing pitcher (2-1, 3.42)

Jacob deGrom has had an incredible run since May 16 where he has achieved a 1.44 ERA, striking out 121 and only allowing 17 walks over his past 16 starts. Jake's ERA sits at second in the majors behind NL Cy Young favorite Zack Greinke. To put into perspective how well deGrom had done this year compared to former Met pitchers, he is the first Met pitcher since Dwight Gooden in 1985 to post an ERA under 2.00 20 starts into the season.

Adam Morgan makes his eleventh career start and first against the Mets. At Citizens Bank Park this year Morgan is (2-1) in 5 starts posting an ERA of 3.81 and striking out 16 while walking 8.

David Wright comes off the DL tonight for his first start since April 15. Wright has missed 115 games. On his rehab stint in St. Lucie Wright posted a batting average of .321 (9 for 28) he also scored 4 runs and had an RBI as well as a 5 walks. Wright has hit .333 in the bigs this year (11 for 33) while having a HR and driving in 4 runs in eight games this season.

Phillies after the all star break have gone a remarkable 21-12 to tie them up with the Marlins for fourth place in the NL East. Ryan Howard has the most HR (19) as well as RBI (67).

Mets have gone 23-8 at Citizens Bank Park since 2012. Winning there last 8 of 9 series in the city of brotherly love.
